What Readers Have to Say…

Bravo! Finally someone in the media did their homework on credit and scoring. I teach credit scoring all over the country and its amazing how much bad information is given out to consumers by the mortgage industry and the consumer counselors and the media. What sounds perfectly logical is not always what is best from a risk assessment perspective. You are one of the first members of the media that I didn't want to shoot for misinforming the public.

Thank you from a very grateful mortgage broker,

Ginny Ferguson, CMC
Vice President, National Association of Mortgage Brokers

Yours is the clearest, most accurate writing on credit scoring that I see in consumer media these days.

As the co-owner of a mortgage brokerage, I always cringe when I hear “experts” offering advice on how to improve your credit score. So many experts (those in the mortgage field or financial field) actually give wrong information or only partially accurate information, which only serves to harm the customer. It was refreshing to hear clear concise points on how to improve your credit score. Thank you for making my job, and other mortgage brokers/lenders, easier. Keep up the good work.

I am an insurance agent, and have been in the insurance business since 1987. I just wanted to comment that I have read several of your insurance articles, and you do a great job. Your articles are very accurate and easy to read and understand.

I have read too many articles giving inaccurate insurance advice from self-proclaimed experts. It's nice to see some good advice going out to consumers. Thanks.

I just want to thank you for your work. Your writing style is very humorous, informative, and written in a way that the everyday person (like myself) can easily understand the concepts that you present....It'll take me quite a while to achieve my goals but I can honestly say that you were able to help me see that they are, in fact, achievable. So I just wanted to say thank you and encourage you to keep up the wonderful work that you do! You are very much appreciated!!!!

Thank you for all of your informative articles.  I read them frequently and am always impressed by their content and the "ease of read."  It's nice not to have to have an extensive background in financial planning to understand and learn from an article.

It's your common sense approach to finances that makes the articles enjoyable and informative. I almost always find some piece of information that I can apply to my family's financial planning.

Just a quick note to say how much I enjoy and appreciate the outstanding financial advice you write on MSN Money. I read a variety of sources online and in print and yours ranks among the top I've ever seen--just solid, practical financial information. Keep up the good work!

Know you can't respond to all emails, but I just wanted you to know how much I enjoy reading your column and how solid I think your advice is.  I frequently pass your articles along to our grown kids.  I read you weekly in the L. A. Times and was delighted to see you online at MSN Money.

I don't plan to read your financial column, but every time I see a topic that seems interesting, it's always yours, so I guess I'm a regular reader. I appreciate the practical advice you provide, and have been able to apply it in my life - lost job, younger daughter at a top private college, etc., and also share your advice with my older daughter as she starts out on her own financially. Thanks again. You've really helped us.

I just wanted to thank you for writing your article on four top myths you hear from lenders.  As a credit reporting agency dealing exclusively with the mortgage industry and loan originators, we are especially attuned to such myths, and have started performing credit education seminars regarding credit reporting and scoring (and the difference between them)…What we've found so far has been astonishing.  Loan originators generally are not equipped with the correct information regarding credit, and have given bad advice to their borrowers….Thank you again for helping consumers learn the truths about credit scores.

I am a sales manager for a mortgage company in Orange County and find your columns insightful and beneficial for myself, my staff, and our borrowers.  Thank you again for your insight and assistance.

I just came across your "How to complain and win" column, and I had to say how I enjoyed it. You conveyed both knowledge and a tone of being on "our" side. I admired and appreciated that.

Keep up your great work in enlighting the masses. As a mortgage broker for 28 years, I use your financial epistles to train new loan agents. I call them "Weston's epistles and missles." Thanks again.
